2005 Festival of Fruit Travel & Lodging

The Festival of Fruit is being held at the UCSC Inn & Conference Center at 611 Ocean Street in Santa Cruz, California. Conference Center rooms are available at a special CRFG rate of $99/day (regular rate is $150), including continental breakfast. For reservations, call 866-827-2466. For more information about the UCSC Inn & Conference Center, click here; for driving directions to the UCSC Inn & Conference Center, click here. Note: Rooms should be reserved as part of the CRFG block to guarantee the special rate, so make sure that you tell the reservation clerk that you are with the CRFG group.

To travel to the UCSC Inn & Conference Center from San Jose, take Highway 17 south (connect from San Francisco to Highway 17 via Highway 101) or the more scenic Highway 1 (north or south of town) to Santa Cruz, and exit at the Ocean Street/Beaches sign. Note: Mapping programs using the 611 Ocean Street Conference Center address send you to the wrong side of Highway 1. However, if you use the address next door to the Center (701 Ocean Street) the location and directions will be correct.

Parking is limited around the hotel on weekdays. You can increase your chances of obtaining a space by staying at the hotel or car pooling. Extra spaces will be available across the street (east) of the hotel on Friday and some spaces are available west of the hotel around a city park. On Saturday, the county government complex parking lot can be used so parking will be plentiful.

The nearest airport is at San Jose, about 30 miles from Santa Cruz. There are also major airports in San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento, and a regional airport in Monterey.

A special note to attendees who are interested in the tours: Some tours are 5 to 15 miles from the San Jose airport, while Davis is 100 miles away. For ease of travel to the tours, it is recommended that you stay Monday evening near Davis or Pinole (about halfway between San Jose and Davis), and Tuesday evening near San Jose for San Jose area tours. Motel 6 has locations in San Jose, Davis and Pinole.
